COVERED MEDICARE SERVICES
Some items in our online catalog may be covered by Medicare. Per Medicare guidelines, an item must be deemed as a medical necessity in order to covered; therefore, not all items are able to be billed to Medicare. Items that are billable include canes, walkers, all-in-one bedside commodes, manual wheelchairs, and motorized wheelchairs. Items that are not billable to Medicare include bathroom safety items (shower chairs, grab bars) and Incontinence Supplies. For further details about what items are covered, please contact your local Doctor's Choice office or call us toll free at (866) 430-4969.
WHAT IF AN ITEM IS COVERED BY MY INSURANCE PLAN?
If an item that you are interested in is covered by your insurance plan, Doctor's Choice will require a detailed written order/prescription and medical notes from a physician. This may prolong the process of receiving the item depending on how fast we can obtain the necessary documentation we need to file a claim with the insurance carrier.
HOW MUCH WILL MY INSURANCE PLAN COVER?
Medicare and most insurance plans have a set allowed amount for each individual item in our catalog. This means the insurance plan sets a rate at which they feel covers the rental or purchase cost for that item. Most primary insurance plans (including Medicare) will cover up to 80% of the allowed rate. The remaining 20% may be covered by a secondary/supplemental insurance plan (if applicable) or may become a patient responsibility.
The patient is responsible for an plan deductibles that have not been satisfied. The patient is also responsible for co-payments not paid for by the insurance plan.
